Interventional Cardiovascular Labs
Here at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System, our Cardiovascular Labs are located at the Heart, Lung & Vascular Center. Our advanced technology enables our board certified cardiologist and vascular surgeons to minimize cardiovascular procedure times, improve outcome and shorten hospitalizations, with such procedures as:
Carotid, Rental, Peripheral Angiography and Interventional Procedures Cardiac Catheterization with Stenting
Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System has two cardiovascular labs open 24 hours a day, staffed with highly trained and registered RN’s, RCIS technologist, Radiology Technologist and CVT, trained to monitor the patient, circulate the room and assist the physicians with scrub on all cardiovascular patients giving excellent care to assure good outcomes.
The Cardiology and Vascular departments support our cardiovascular labs and hospital with procedures such as:

Specialized Cardiac/ Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is proud to announce the certification of its Cardiac/ Pulmonary rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). MHHS was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.
Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems (e.g. heart attacks, angioplasty/ stents, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, etc.) and pulmonary problems ( e.g. chronic obstructive pulmonary disease- COPD, emphysema, respiratory symptoms, etc.) recover faster and improve their quality of life. Both outpatient programs include exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.
We are conveniently located within the Heart, Lung and Vascular Center of the North East Tower in Morristown Hamblen Hospital.
Echocardiography Lab
We provide a full range of cardiac diagnostic services to detect the presence of the heart disease: color, stress, Doppler, and transesophageal echocardiography, preformed with an Omniplane to view anatomy.
Cardio Stress Lab
Our cardiologist use the latest innovations such as graded exercise tests, myocardial perfusion imaging and tilt table tests to assess the best heart care for an individual.
Cardiac Catheterization Lab
MHHS has two full-time cardiac catheterization labs to ensure efficient scheduling of procedures. They are available hours a day for emergencies. (Insert Door to balloon time here)
The labs offer intravascular ultrasound, a diagnostic tool to help determine the nature of coronary heart disease. We provide alternatives to coronary artery bypass grafting, such as rotablator, balloon angioplasty and stent placements.
Respiratory Therapy Department
The Respiratory Therapy Department provides services twenty four hours a day seven days a week. It is staffed with Certified and Registered Therapists and a Respiratory Care Assistant. Each therapist works closely with the nurses and physicians to establish a care plan that helps facilitate the patients recovery time. In the ICU and CCU the physicians, nurses, and therapists work closely on the Ventilator Bundle Protocol by rounding each morning and afternoon to help decrease the number of vent days and the number of ventilator acquired pneumonias. Other services provided for outpatients as well as inpatients include the following:
- Pulmonary Function Testing
- Pulse Oximetry
- Arterial Blood Gases
- Aerosolized Medications
- Smoking Cessation
