MHHS Senior Connect Joins Covenant Passport Program
Beginning July 20, 2012, Morristown-Hamblen's Senior Connect program will join Covenant Senior Health's Passport program. Covenant Passport is a free program for adults age 50 and older that offers the latest health information, screenings, fitness, travel opportunities, and discounts for seniors. Since Covenant Passport is a free program, Senior Connect dues were discontinued as of June 1.
The Passport program has a ten year history and boasts 19,000 members. The office of Senior Services for Covenant Health has been integrating into the Senior Connect programs for the past year. “Through health fairs, volunteering at events, inclusion of stories in the Passport Newsletter and by collaborating with the Morristown Senior Center, Covenant Health Senior Services has enjoyed the most getting to know individual Senior Connect member seniors and are looking forward to working even closer with those in Morristown,” Stan Boling, Vice President Covenant Senior Health Services.
The Senior Connect quarterly newsletter will no longer be printed, instead members will receive the Covenant Passport quarterly newsletter beginning with the fall edition (to be mailed in late September.) In addition, a newly commissioned Advisory Board council will meet quarterly to plan goals and events.
Senior Connect program discounts will remain the same, and will include additional discounts offered through Passport. Cost of dinner events will remain $5 for members and $7 for non-members through 2012. The exception is the December event, which will be $10 per person to cover food costs.
